My Q3 Show Rotation
Hello friends,
A couple weeks ago I came up with this idea of creating a show rotation. I’m a chronic binge-watcher and re-watcher so I either get through my watchlist quickly or not at all. But there’s also times when I just don’t want to watch the show I’m bingeing and need something else to cleanse the palette. The issue is that I then spend hours trying to figure out what to watch until I inevitably return to the same thing I needed a break from. I think this show rotation would be a great way to get me out of that funk and also get me to watch other shows that I’ve been dying to but neglect to pick up. Keep scrolling to check out which shows I’ll be bingeing this quarter.
K-Drama
Lee Jong Suk was the lead actor in the first K-Drama I ever watched. Since then, I’ve been enamored by his talent and have made it my mission to watch all his work. I started W a little while ago and I truly love it. Usually, I watch primarily Korean thrillers with some romances sprinkled here and there. So seeing their take on fantasy has been really fascinating. I love the way they blend the art and let us live inside the pages of a comic. The artistry is truly fantastic. I’m so curious to see how they’ll mend the relationships of these characters at the end because there’s so much at stake! I have about 3 episodes left :( and I do not want to say goodbye. If I finish this before the quarter ends, my backup is Flower of Evil.
Drama
The other day I was scrolling Peacock when I came across Found. Impulsively, I pressed play and was three episodes in before I knew it. I think the concept is interesting and I enjoy trying to figure out where the missing people are, who took them, etc. But, I do find the script a little difficult sometimes. All the actors do a wonderful job and their talent definitely shows, but there are so many awkward line moments that I can’t help but cringe a little bit. However, I don’t think it deters from how great this show is. I recently found out that it’s been cancelled so I’ve been savoring the last few episodes I have left. I’m not sure what my backup will be yet but there’s so many on my watchlist that I’m bound to find something.
Marvel
When Agatha All Along came out I was in the middle of school trying to not drown in readings. But I felt it would be so much sweeter to watch it when all the episodes were out. I’m halfway through the first episode and it’s already not what I expected (in a good way). I LOVED WandaVision and Agatha (albeit annoying) was a great character. I knew we needed to see more of her and I’m so glad Marvel gave us what we needed. I think after the first half of this episode, my expectations have gotten a little higher, so we’ll see how it goes.
Sitcom
As a dedicated sitcom girly, I knew I had to have it in my rotation. Sometimes you really just need a 30 minute laugh to keep you going. This quarter I chose Martin since it’s one of the classics I haven’t seen yet. I love Martin Lawrence in the Bad Boys movies so this was a no brainer for me. I don’t really look for anything specific in a sitcom. I just want to laugh and feel light and this is doing just that.
Reality
Without a doubt, RHOM is THE BEST housewives city. Every single season delivers with the drama, friendship, luxury and more that makes the housewives franchise so enticing. It’s such a shame to me that this show isn’t promoted as much as the others because these ladies put in the WORK. I’m extra excited for this season because so much happened off screen at the end of last season that had viewers calling for the cameras to go back up. I’ve been avoiding all the spoilers online like it’s a full time job so I can’t wait to finally click play soon.
Competition
The day I discovered Destination X I knew I found a gem. What I love about this show is that it feels very low stakes. I watch many competition shows, usually with a lot of deceit but this one is a breath of fresh air. The deceit is lighter than other shows and the concept is fascinating. Watching this definitely made me realize that I don’t know nearly as much as I think I do because I don’t connect the dots as quickly as these contestants (still delusional enough to think I can make it far on this show). I really hope they continue this show with regular people and don’t fall victim to the second season reality stars powwow that other shows do. I’m also watching the current season of Love Island and Love Hotel.
Catch Up
Season one of Squid Game was one of the best 9 episodes of television I have ever seen. It was thrilling, full of action, and had twists for days. I’m truly in love with this show. Because there were so many unique games in season 1, it’d be interesting to see if they kept some of the games, changed them to better ones, or if the entire structure from start to finish is completely different. I have seasons 2 and 3 to catch up on and super sad that we don’t get more time with these characters.
Rewatch
Pretty Little Liars has been on my mind so much this year, I knew I had to pick it up again before the end of the year. It’s been my favorite after work treat with a nice cool glass of lemonade. This time around I find myself understanding the story on such a deep level. I feel like rewatching shows at different stages of your life truly makes you see things differently or maybe even catch things you didn’t before. Naturally, Hannah is still my favorite girl but it's really hitting me just how young Sasha was compared to the others. This time I’m noticing her youthfulness and how great of a job the makeup department did in making her appear older.
What show are you rewatching?
It’s been so freeing to have a show lineup. I cannot tell you how many times my food has gotten cold while I scrolled trying to find what to watch. I’m loving this so much that it inspired me to finally finish my media hub on notion. I added a separate section for all Marvel content (which took me hours to finish) so I can track all Marvel series and films. I think I might share it with you all at some point, we’ll see.
