Q2 Show Rotation
The 9 Shows I'll be watching this quarter.
Hello friends,
We’re kicking off a new quarter which means we need a brand new rotation to keep us entertained. If you’re new here, hi, welcome! Every quarter I gather up a list of shows to keep on rotation so I don’t have to spend hours trying to figure out what to watch as my food gets cold. I’m incredibly excited about this line up so let’s get right into it.
RECAP
Vigilante (K-Drama): 4.5/5 stars. I had a blast watching this, especially since it was my first Nam Joo Hyuk drama. He is a fantastic talent and I loved watching him fight criminals. The fight sequences themselves were beautifully choreographed and I really appreciated all the random comedic moments between the characters to lighten the mood a bit. I definitely wanted something more from this, maybe more of a build up to him becoming a Vigilante. But, overall I highly recommend this drama.
The Nanny (Sitcom): 5/5 stars. THIS WAS FANTASTIC. I wish I was a dancer because I really wanted to choreograph a jazz routine to the intro. Usually I skip theme songs after 2-4 episodes but this one was absolutely perfect, I jammed out every single time. I want more of this show. Every single character made me laugh and the chemistry between everyone was off the charts.
The Traitors US (season 4): 10/5 stars. This was phenomenal. I won’t go into too much detail since I did a separate post on this, but just know I LOVED IT.
The Traitors UK (season 4): 10/5 stars. Having this premiere right after the US finished was the best time. Two back to back seasons of phenomenal game play.
The Celebrity Traitors (season 1): 10/5 stars. As you can see I was on a Traitors bender and I can’t even complain about it. This was the only season I hadn’t watched that’s available to me on Peacock and it did not disappoint. It was actually so fun to recognize some of the British celebrities and I enjoyed how well everyone played. Every person was in it to win it which made for a very entertaining season.
Abbott Elementary (seasons 1-5): 5/5 stars. I need a new season to drop every single month. I love when sitcoms are actually funny and you’re able to genuinely enjoy every single character. There were so many moments when I had curled up laughing, unable to control the joy this show brought me. A sincerely brilliant group of people.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (seasons 3-4): 5/5 stars. My friend Jenna inspired me to finally catch up and let me tell you, the girlies really dialed up the drama in these last two seasons. I have so many emotions about all the scandals and I need the cameras to pick back up immediately. If you haven’t watched and are looking to be on the edge of your seat every episode, this is definitely the show for you.
Favorite:
K-Drama
Romantic K-Dramas are always top tier. They have some type of formula that pulls at your heartstrings and makes it impossible to not kick your feet in the air. Based on what I’ve seen so far, it looks like Yu Na-Bi is fresh off a break up and swearing off love forever when she runs into Park Jae-eon and everything changes.
After waiting for so long, Bloodhounds is finally back!! I watched season 1 back in 2024 and rated it 4.5/5 stars. It was such a fantastic show. My one and only complaint about this show is that I wanted more boxing matches like in an actual ring. But the fight sequences were very well choreographed and the dynamics between the characters was magnetic. Season 2 looks like it will include a bit more boxing than the previous season so I’m beyond excited.
Drama
Slowly but surely, we’re checking off our “Watch Later” folders. This month I’m tackling one that has been saved since it first premiered in 2023. Every time I’ve considered starting this it was a couple days/weeks before I had to get on a flight and that just seems like bad juju. I have zero plans of traveling any time soon so this is as good a time as any.
I randomly stumbled on IITIM as I was scrolling Hulu and immediately added it to my list for this quarter. There’s like this group of tourists travelling to Lisbon and one of them ends up dead. The rest of the group sets out to find the murderer amongst them while simultaneously checking out the city.
Marvel
I know absolutely nothing about this other than the fact that people say it’s the best Marvel show they’ve watched in a long time. Count me in!
Sitcom
When I was younger people used to say that I looked like Keke Palmer and I absolutely hated it. But, now that I’m older I enjoy her so much and I wish people still said I looked like her. I think she’s such a class act. I stumbled upon this show because it was being highlighted on the Peacock app and the trailer really caught my attention. I also saw there’s a movie just like this with the same name so I’m thinking about watching that before starting this. This show follows Samira and Rob who move to “The Safest Town in America” to raise their child. After a mysterious man moves into the abandoned home across the street, Samira and a group of her neighbors start investigating local lore and end up uncovering so many hidden secrets.
Reality
Guys… I’m two episodes in and whoever casted these ladies hit a gold mine. I really hope that these ladies keep up this momentum and don’t fall victim to overproduction because they are truly hilarious and messy and oh so luxurious. Within the first 10 minutes of the first episode I had laughed so hard and even though I couldn’t tell half of them apart, I was beyond entertained getting to know their stories. If you’ve never watched housewives before, this is definitely a great place to start.
Competition
This is one of my guilty pleasures because it’s such a silly show. It doesn’t even seem real half the time. They gather a bunch of “villains” from different reality TV shows and put them in a mansion together where they have to do challenges and eliminate each other until crowning the ultimate villain. It is beyond silly and unserious and such a good laugh. This season in particular is stocked with so many people I’ve watched before so I’m super excited for it.
Anime
I didn’t get to watch my anime last quarter but I’m super excited for this one. Based on what I’ve seen it’s fairly new and follows Nanoka as she travels back in time to try to break a curse that connects her and an onmyoji from the past.
Catch Up
Season 1 of R&F was iconic. It introduced me to D Smoke, Troyman and so many other artists who I truly believe deserve so much more recognition. This is a reality competition show to find hip hop artists. There’s a series of auditions in different cities before the contestants are brought together to do a series of challenges like rap battle, creating music videos and so much more. It’s such a fun watch if you’re into the behind the scenes of creative production and hip hop (obvi).
Rewatch
I’ve had several friends pick up Black Bird and their excited reviews make me want to pick it back up. It was one of those shows where the actors were so talented it was hard to see past the fact that they were portraying characters. I ended up watching this randomly because I love Apple TV and I was so shocked when I started connecting the dots and realized I had just listened to a podcast detailing the case it’s based on. I think they did such a wonderful job with this production so I highly recommend it.
I also love Schitt’s Creek. It was on my mind the beginning of the year and I was waiting until this new quarter started to pick it up. I was saddened to hear about the passing of Catherine O’Hara and knew it was a must to rewatch this. If you haven’t seen it yet, I hope you pick it up if you’re in the mood for some quirky fun and crazy characters.
What show/movie has been on your mind lately?
